    MEET MICHAEL PANCINI

  • ARTIST STATEMENT

Painting in oil I seek to blend the still gaze of realism with the immediacy of abstraction to create work that speaks to the fleeting nature of our moments and their endurance in the form of memory.

  • MEET DEANNA EHRHARDT

  • ARTIST STATEMENT

I’m always in a state of creativity, whether it’s painting, drawing, or writing. Two-dimensional work is my passion; paint and paper are my loves. The past year and a half have been an explosion of medium exploration as well as a cathartic journey in my ode to women. I’ve titled this show “The Road Well Traveled.”

Sometimes, my portraiture is primarily composed of newspaper text (including women’s obituaries). I purposely add areas of color to create emphasis in the composition. Laying pattern on top of pattern, to create contrast, is always a challenge in collage but I enjoy the process of experimenting with paper and color. Other times, the portraits are all paint on top of collage. When I paint it’s pure joy…

My subject matter continues to be the human face; all women. I love capturing the story in their eyes. I read once that our eyes are the windows to our souls… I agree with this concept. There is such beauty in the human face, whether the portrait conveys pain or joy. Each piece has an element that represents all of their untold stories of their life. Another symbol in these women are the “taped on” smiles.
This body of work is very near and dear to my heart; all of these collage /oil paint women tell a real story…

MEET JILLIAN PANCINI

  • ARTIST STATEMENT

When I photograph anything, whether it be person, place or thing, often, my goal on some level, is to make an honest representation and show whatever dignity or beauty I see. A naturally beautiful or charming subject is balm for the soul. However, considering we live in a world filled with pain and suffering and some subjects are by nature not inherently beautiful, I prefer to look for other ways of conveying the gravity of certain unhappy realities and am the most satisfied in these cases by trying to bring order to a subject which is clearly in a state of disorder.

I don’t know why the act of recording the image and transporting it to the realm of the material brings the sense of gratification and contentment that it does, Perhaps it is because through this I’ve found a way to help myself understand things about the world that might otherwise remain abstract or obscure to me.
